The Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writers' Guild holds an annual conference in late October or early November. This is a one day event and gives attendees an opportunity to learn more about writing for publication. Speakers in the past have included the poets laureate of Missouri, editors and publishers as well as authors who can speak to specific genres, the pros and cons of trying to become published in them.
