Weather? What? and When?

Coming in 2014
Weather and road conditions prevented us from meeting together on Dec. 8th. So now we look forward to the new year.

Contest:  We will be cooking up a “blog writing” challenge for the new year. We’ll keep you posted on the details as they shape up.

November Challenge Drawing:  We will still hold a drawing for prizes for those who kept the 5 hours per week of writing in November 2013.  Bring your official challenge page (found under Meetings tab)

January 5, 2014 – Professor Aliki Barnstone, celebrated poet and Creative Writing instructor at MU will give us a hands-on approach to generating text and imagery on the power of “place.” This means a focus on the setting, on memory related to setting and also the sense of being displaced.

February 2, 2014    Life-line–a timeline method for generating ideas and  Critique Groups

March 2, 2014— Speaker: Donna Volkenannt,
Topic: “Polish your Prose: Practical Editing and Revision Tips”

Donna Volkenannt believes words have the power to inspire, uplift, and heal. Her works have won more than 100 awards, including the 2012 Erma Bombeck Global Humor Award, honorable mention in the Steinbeck short story competition, and nominations for a Pushcart Prize and a Spur award. Although poetry is not her forte, she agrees with the editing advice attributed to Dr. Seuss: “So the writer who breeds more words than he needs is making a chore for the reader who reads.” Visit her at http://donnasbookpub.blogspot.com

April 6th—Critique Groups

Note:  In case of inclement weather, check our website at http://ccmwg.org// for news about meeting cancelations.  Our Jan and March speakers both agree to speak the following month if there is a meeting cancelation due to inclement weather.
