The Flash Fiction contest is going very well. We have 35 participants. Entries are coming in and members are voting for their favorites. It is not too late to join in on the last 2 weeks of this 5-week challenge.
Next, please note we are not meeting on July 4th weekend…rather we are meeting Sunday, July 13th for Critique sessions. Bring your poems and short manuscripts of 3000 words or less. Be sure to carry five copies for your group.
Even more wonderful to announce, Professor Aliki Barnstone has agreed to give us one more try! She will be our August 3rd—SPEAKER!!!!!
Aliki Barnstone, celebrated poet and Creative Writing instructor at MU will give us a hands-on approach to generating text and imagery on the power of “place.” For poet and prose alike, we all need to enhance our ability to capture place, space, or a sense of displacement. No matter what the weather, we hope to see you there in mass to start off the year 2014 with your whole-hearted participation.
Aren’t you excited to join us? Put CCMWG on your schedule, on the calendar, on your IPhone reminders.
Today we held the books in our hands. We listened to lovely readings from many of our authors and enjoyed one another’s company. But by far, the two individuals that we need to showcare are Harold and Linda who put in nearly 200 hours to make the Anthology happen. We thank them for making us look good in print again this year.
Watch your INBOX for the first photo for the FLASH FICTION challenge on Thursday morning. Write a poem or narrative of 100 words or less and return in an email by the following Thursday (midnight). We will do this activity for FIVE weeks (not six) and thus have the challenge complete by our July meeting on JULY 13th!!! Note, we are not meeting on the Sunday of July 6th, ….Oh no…we are meeting on July 13th at Unity instead.
Stay connected through the FLASH FICTION challenge, okay?
Warmly, Lori Younker CCMWG 2014 President
